At IDI Billing Solutions, partnerships aren’t just about integrations—they’re about impact. From digital payments to ERP to field service, every collaboration is designed to deliver more value to our customers.
In this next edition of Behind the Innovation, we sat down with Tony Cotugno, VP of Partnerships, to talk about how IDI identifies the right partners, what clients gain from a connected ecosystem, and where the telecom industry is headed.
What do you look for when evaluating a potential partner?
In addition to proven experience and financial stability, we look for a strong presence in the same telecom verticals we serve. But just as important is cultural fit. We want to partner with companies that serve similar-sized clients and share our focus on customer success. That alignment is key to long-term value.
How does IDI’s partner network support a more connected, end-to-end experience?
Whether we’re collaborating with Salesforce or bringing in one of our 30+ battle-tested partners, the goal is the same—delivering a cohesive solution.
Sometimes we complement a partner’s platform as part of a joint go-to-market strategy. Other times, we build a solution ourselves by tapping into our broader network, from payments and ERP to print, mail, and carrier access billing.
It gives us—and our clients—tremendous flexibility.

How do IDI’s partnerships enhance the platform and benefit your customers?
Partnerships like the ones we have with Paymentus and Netsuite let us deliver what I’d call a best-of-breed ecosystem. By integrating with trusted digital payments and ERP providers, we can offer more complete, contemporary solutions. We’re in a stronger position now than we’ve ever been to deliver comprehensive value to our clients.
Can you share an example of how a partnership directly improved a client’s experience?
Absolutely. In our last three deals, clients needed ERP integration, field service management, and carrier access billing. Because of our existing partnerships, we were able to bring those capabilities to the table immediately—no need for the client to go source them separately. Several of them told us how much they appreciated that simplicity and time savings.
What trends are influencing how you think about partnerships today?
We’ve always kept an eye on telecom industry trends, but we also pay close attention to how service providers want to buy. There’s a strong move away from monolithic, all-in-one systems toward flexible, best-of-breed environments. Our API-first platform is built for that. Another big trend we’re seeing is rural cellular providers deploying fiber, which adds new operational demands. We’re ready for that shift—and our partner network plays a big role in helping us support it.
