Our Commitment to Community
For us, success is measured not just by business milestones but by the difference we make in the communities we call home. Volunteerism and giving back are woven into the fabric of our culture. Every full-time IDI employee receives eight hours of Volunteer Paid Time Off, collectively resulting in over 1,000 hours dedicated to meaningful causes this year.
Here are just a few examples of how our team stepped up in 2024 to make a difference:
- United Way Day of Caring: IDI employees joined forces with local nonprofits, supporting organizations like The Community Clothes Closet, the YMCA branches, and Empowering People’s Independence. “After spending a day with IDI employees and others at this event, I’m hooked and plan to volunteer every year,” shared Brandon Mink, IDI Product Owner.
- Valentown Museum: Our team rolled up their sleeves to help organize and set up exhibits at this local historical gem, preserving artifacts that date back to the Revolutionary War.
- Light Hill Luminaria Event: Employees helped prepare thousands of electronic candles to honor lives lost at Light Hill, a local hospice care home. From filling buckets with sand to testing lights, every detail contributed to a powerful community tribute.
- American Heart Association Walk: IDI participated in its first Rochester Heart Walk, raising awareness and support for heart health.
- RIT Partnerships: IDI proudly sponsors Rochester Institute of Technology’s Affinity Networking events and supports diversity through scholarships, mentoring programs like WiCHacks, and workforce development initiatives. These efforts help build inclusive spaces for students to thrive.
- Girl Scouts STEM Event: Our Women in Technology group (IWIT) welcomed local Girl Scout troops to earn their Coding Badges, inspiring future leaders to explore and embrace careers in STEM.
- Open Door Mission Fundraiser: Proceeds from our annual golf tournament were donated to support Open Door Mission, providing essential resources to families overcoming homelessness and poverty.
Empowering Our People to Make an Impact
Volunteerism at IDI is personal. We encourage employees to use their volunteer hours to support causes close to their hearts.
Rachel Robbins reflected: “IDI’s volunteer time off has been invaluable, allowing me to create special memories with my children at school activities. I’m grateful to work for a company that prioritizes family and community.”
Jonas Myhill shared: “The eight hours IDI provides allow me to help at our local haunted house fundraiser, our biggest event of the year. It funds vital community programs, and I truly appreciate the support.”
Jill Denslow added: “This fall, I used my volunteer hours to participate in my foster daughter Kathryn’s school Pioneer Days. Teaching the kids history through activities like checkers, marbles, and tin punching was such a joy. I’m so thankful for IDI’s support in making these moments possible.”
